Aug 11, 2014 Among Men We Chase The Sun

Wow, what a week. This week was amazing. So many amazing things happened.

Miracle: the trondheim sisters came down for a visit. I had this desire to pick sister chapman rips which is a berry she had never had. I thought that is a really dumb idea. But then I just thought why not we will be contacting anyways.  We got on the bus and as we got off sister oldham met a man that she had taught  a year ago that she has been trying to get in contact with for forever! We met with him later that night and the meeting went well. This is what happens when we listen to the good intenions of our heart. Our desires are good. This huge miracle happened because we wanted to pick berries. It was one of the coolest things that has happened to me in my life.

Many miracles continue to happen. It is just me and sister hornback on this small little island and it is a sanctuary. I love ålesund! I know God lives and is waiting to give us what we want.

August 4, 2014 - Among Men Picking Berries

This week has been amazing!!! . The cat story I told you all about led us to finding a new investigator, who ended up bringing a friend and now they are both planning on getting baptized on august 30th. I know that miracles are real and God puts cats in trees  to ultimately bring his children back to him. We have been eating a lot of berries and seeing a lot of slugs. There was a slug curled up attached to the top part of the stem of a weed. It was so gross!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I died.

We also had the opportunity to come in contact with a hedge hog that crossed our path. It was so cute!!! It drank water and its little eyes were just the cutest in the entire world!!! Not only that but the cute hedge hog allowed us to be in the best mood when we taught our investigator. We have been really busy changing this branch into a ward, but still enjoying the time to enjoy the roses. I love my mission!!!!! I love this island. I love God and the many miracles he have worked while we have been here. We have found so many prepared people and most of the time it is because we do simple things like pick berries or save cats. I know that doing what we want to do is what God wants us to do and God truly wants us to feel joy and enjoy the magnifiscent places we are at in life.

We also had the opportunity to eat fresh crab and it was so good!

We work really hard and I love sister Hornback! She is a great companion. We are a geat team.

have a great week everyone.

July 28, 2014 - Among Men Saving Cats

the funny story of the week.....sister hornback wrote it.

"Once upon a time we were on our way to visit a member. We had been walking/contacting on our way to her appartment and had just arrived about 10 minutes early when we heard some distressed sounding meowing. We looked around for the source and eventually discovered that the meowing was coming from a frightened looking cat who seemed to be stuck in the high branches of a nearby tree. Being the heroic missionaries we are, we immediately dropped our bags and set about trying to figure out a way to rescue the poor creature. We considered having Sister Shaw sit on my shoulders and try to grab the cat, but we thought that might not be such a lady-like thing to do in a skirt (and we're both pretty short, so it probably wouldnt have been so effective anyway.). Climbing was also not an option, at least for the human species, so we resorted to trying to coax the cat down with soothing utterances of ''Kom ned katt!'' or in other words, ''Come down cat!'' And the cat must have recognized us as dedicated servants of God because it started making it's way down! When it got to the lowest branches Sister Shaw stood directly under the cat and reached her arms up in a beckoning manner. And then, as if in slow motion, this trusting cat leaped gracefully from the lower branches of the tree directly into the outstretched arms of Sister Shaw. We looked at eachother, realizing we had accomplished our endeavor, and then proceeded to laugh uncontrollaby for the next 5 minutes straight. It was by far the best thing that's ever happened on my mission (besides all the ''bringing people closer to Christ'' things.)."

other events of the week......This week was really amazing. We met some really cool people. One of which is from the phillipines and she started crying because she wanted to feel the love of God more in her life. That was a very neat experience. I have felt the spirit so strong here. Me and sister hornback are perfect companions. We work really hard but still find time to pick berries along the way.

We also took the bus to meet this muslim man and then he didn't show. We started walking back and met this super legit girl. I mean so legit we taught her and the spirit was so strong. I am loving this place and I know the Lord is here. I also have been doing an activity where i think of all the reasons why god is grateful for me and the things I did that day. Maybe that sounds selfish but it is helping me to learn how much I mean to the Lord and to also be more grateful for those around me

June 30, 2014

Dear everyone,

I will be covering a topic this week the world needs to hear. It is a virtue that is forgotten in the modern world. It is the law of chastity. I love the law of chastity. It is the best law God has given us. When we follow this law we are able to experience greater joy and a deeper love for those around us and our future\current spouse. God has given us this law to allow us to have the greatest happiness.

10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour oflove, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the samediligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who throughfaith and patience inherit the promises.
13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he couldswear by no greater, he sware by himself,
14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
16 For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.

love you mom and soph hope you have a good fourth of july!!!
17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled forrefuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made anhigh priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

June 23, 2014

Dear family and friends!
I have some way good scriptures for you this week:)
rev 3
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, andthat the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
The Lord wants us to stand in this world of confusion and trevail. We need to seek the gold tried in the fire and white raiment such that we can be clothed and protected from the chaos around us. We need to put on the armor of God.
1samuel 12:21 Vend dere ikke bort, slik at dere følger de tomme avgudene, som ikke kan hjelpe eller frelse, fordi de er bare tomhet this verse is so much better in Norwegian

It says in english vain, but here it says tom, tom means empty in Norwegian. We need to constantly be turning ourselves away from the empty worldly idols that surround us because they are just emptiness.

I think it is important to rememeber the true achievements here on earth. For example a father or a mother can accomplish being the best singer or getting a Phd or being the best at one thing or another. But the only accomplishment that will matter to their child is the accomplishment that they learned to love that child. In missionary work......we could get like 10 new investigators that week, but if we can not accomplish loving them or loving each other as a companionship we have not really accomplished anything at all. Remember what true accomplishments are.

we are seeing and experiencing many miracles. The Lords hand is truly in the work.
love you all
